Girls Volleyball Qualifies for CIF Playoffs

Bethel's girls volleyball team completed its Express League schedule with a 6-6 record and a 3rd place finish, which qualified them for a spot in the CIF volleyball playoffs. It will be the first playoff appearance since 2007, when the Warriors went to the 2nd round before eventually losing to CIF Finalist Coastal Christian.

The Express League season was a meat-grinder, as only two matches all season went only 3 games. The last place Crystal Cathedral team beat 2nd place Orangewood, as did 4th place Eastside. Even league champion Acaciawood, who went undefeated, had their hands full with most of their matches going 4 or 5 games. Bethel finished a game behind Orangewood, losing 2 of 3 matches to the Spartans, including a brutal 3-2 final match (23-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23, 14-16). This came on the heals of a tough 3-1 loss to Acaciawood (24-26, 25-22, 22-25, 13-25) and an emotional win over Eastside (16-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-13).

The Warriors will head to the CIF playoffs next week, and as a 3rd place team will probably be sent on the road. CIF draw sheets for division 5A will be out on Sunday Nov. 8.
